What was once known as the bar and terrace at Australasia in the heart of Spinningfields has been transformed into a beautiful beach bar that serves an infused selection of sushi, bento boxes, cocktails and afternoon tea better known as Sunset by Australasia. This place has the most beautiful interior, from artificial flower walls and white washed tables to pink tiled floor and blossom trees, this place looks like something that you would see on Pinterest!
My husband and I popped along to try out the Sunset bento box which was a selection of light fusion dishes, some of which you may have already tried from the main menu if you have previously visited Australasia. To start a miso soup was served which was delicious. Following this we had the signature bento box which included salmon and tuna sashimi, california rolls with peking duck, teriyaki chicken and a beef broth served in a little teapot. There was also a good selection of vegetarian dishes including crispy rice squares, seaweed salad and vegetable tempura. Each of the dishes tasted delicious and presentation was second to none. If you are used to a complete meal then a bento box may not fill you up as much as you’d like but just compare it to tapas style dishes. I’d definitely like to go back and try out the afternoon tea menu as it sounds divine!
