MODDERSHALL OAKS SPA RETREAT
Last weekend I visited the beautiful Moddershall Oaks country spa retreat in Staffordshire which offers spa days, spa breaks and treatments. This place is a little hidden gem located in the countryside about one hour drive from Manchester. The retreat has recently opened an outdoor spa courtyard including a heated vitality spa pool, relaxation lounge, sauna and spa deli serving delicious snacks, cakes & coffee. This place is perfect to visit all year round, in the height of summer you can sunbathe on the loungers and enjoy the facilities and in the winter you can relax by the wood burning fire which is in the outdoor area. I found the place to be very relaxing and the perfect location to wind down after a long week at work. We began our day in the indoor pool area where you could relax on the heated tiled loungers, enjoy the jacuzzi and steam room and forget about everything else going on around you!
I got to try out the gold scrub treatment which is currently part of the Summer offer, priced at £89 per person, valid Monday-Friday between 9 and 5.30pm and includes a 2 course lunch. For more details about this offer contact 01782 399000 or visit www.moddershalloaks.com. The treatment was 30 mins long and consisted of a full body exfoliation using a tantalising gold shimmering cane sugar scrub rich in caviar extract, golden jojoba and grape-seed oil. My skin felt so smooth after the treatment, it’s a great one to have before and after holiday tanning!
As well as a spa area for treatments, there was a beauty salon called The Snug where you could have a vast range of treatments including manicures & pedicures. With only 10 rooms available for overnight stays, it made the entire place feel exclusive which is what I liked about it.
After our treatments we headed to the restaurant to try out the lunch menu. I tried the pea soup which tasted really fresh and full of flavour, followed by the chicken served on on a bed of risotto. Even though we were full at this point, we still managed to find room for the sticky toffee pudding which was served with caramel sauce and ice cream! If i’m honest I’ve had better desserts but overall the meal was very good. I would definitely recommend Moddershall Oaks for a weekend break or spa day.
