I am sure you can tell by now that spa days are one of my favourite things to do on a weekend! A few weeks ago I visited the lovely Mottram hall to experience their spa day. Mottram Hall is Cheshire’s finest golf and leisure resort, surrounded by parkland in the glorious Cheshire countryside. It has the UK’s first Alfresco ThermoSpace which is the outdoor spa area, a relaxation room and offers a full range of beauty treatments. We began our day by the pool area which was very relaxing, first the jacuzzi and then the Brechelbath and Stonebath, two warm thermal rooms that gradually increase your body temperature. The indoor pool area has plenty of loungers so no need to leave your towel on a bed, although I can imagine the outdoor area to get quite busy in the Summer. The spa comprises 8 luxury treatment rooms including 2 double suites offering therapies to soothe and invigorate the mind and body. All the treatments use natural skincare and luxury spa brand, Espa (suitable for sensitive skin if you are wondering!)
I tried out the hot stone massage and facial which lasted one hour, I honestly could have fallen asleep after the treatments! The hot stone massage included aromatherapy oils and warm volcanic stones to relieve deep muscle tension. The stones only felt hot when first applied to the skin, then your body gets used to the temperature. This treatment is definitely worth having and certainly helps you unwind and relax. The facial includes a double cleanse, exfoliation, face massage and a scalp massage using the pink hair and scalp mud which smells amazing and leaves your scalp feeling extremely clean! My favourite product was the balancing herbal spa fresh toner which was so refreshing but soothing at the same time. We tried the afternoon tea in the Carrington Grill restaurant area which I wouldn’t rave about as I have had better, but it was nice to be able to sit in your robes in the restaurant, It makes the experience that bit more relaxing.
